Teriyaki Turkey Cilantro Bologonese

  • For the turkey bolognese:

    1 lb ground turkey; 1 onion, diced; 2 cloves garlic minced; 1 cup tomato sauce; 1 cup chicken broth; 2 tbsp teriyaki sauce; 1 tsp dried basil; 1 tsp dried oregano; Salt and pepper to taste; 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro

    For pasta:

    8 oz spaghetti or any pasta of your choice

  • Cook the pasta according to package instructions, then set aside.

    In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground turkey, breaking it up into small pieces. Drain any excess fat.

    Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet, and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

    Stir in the tomato sauce, chicken broth, teriyaki sauce, dried basil, and dried oregano. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let cook for 15-20 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.

    Season the turkey bolognese with salt and pepper to taste.

    Stir in the chopped cilantro.

    Serve the turkey bolognese over the cooked pasta, garnish with additional cilantro if desired.
